Once in a while, the cold war bimbo programs would experiment with new process and features. Sometimes these would work out well, other times they did not.
Take this cold war bimbo for example. Even in this low light environment this model requires protective eye ware to be able to operate normally.
This is because this model has had an upgrade performed to it’s optical system, allowing for near perfect night vision, allowing for this model to perform flawlessly even in total darkness.
Unfortunately this model is almost completely useless in even moderately lite room and can actually be damaged in daylight.
In the end, these kinds of modifications were interesting research tools, but were abandoned by every major cold war program.
