Shelly leaned back against the corner of the hallway and nervously ran her fingers through her long blonde hair, “Like, are you sure it’s ok for us to be here?”
“Oh yeah, completely ok.” Derek replied and she gave a half smile in response. She wasn’t sure where ‘here’ actually was, in fact her memory in general was kinda fuzzy. But she did recognize the half dozen security doors they’d walked through in the last few minutes wasn’t normal and it was making her nervous.
Being a steetwalker was dangerous enough without getting involved in some kind of high security area that she clearly wasn’t supposed to be in.
“We’re almost there, come on.” Derek said, waiving her through yet another door, but this time instead of yet another generic hallway, it lead to a bank of elevators. Shelly let out a little sigh of relief as Derek walked over and swiped his badge and then called the elevator.
“So, like your friend is upstairs?” she asked.
“Hum? Oh yeah, yeah definitely, he’s really excited to meet you too.”
“Yeah? Is it, like a bachelors party or somethin?” she continued to press for details.
“Absolutely like a bachelors party. But more like a divorce party, cause he’s getting rid of the ball and chain if you know what I mean…” Derek replied as they rode the elevator up several floors until it came to a halt and the doors opened again.
“Okie dokey! Like, I can work with that, *giggle*” she replied as they walked down another hallway to a large office at the end of it. Derek opened the door and let her step through first.
Inside was another man sitting behind his desk, he looked up and his eyes went wide as Shelly walked in to the room.
“Fucking hell, it worked!” he almost yelled out and Shelly was confused so just raised her hand to her lips and let out a giggle as she looked down at her cleavage.
“I’ll leave you two alone…” Derek said as he closed the door behind her and Shelly wiggled her way over to where the other man was sitting.
“Hi… Like, I’m Shelly! *giggle*” she said as she cocked her hip to one side and leaned over a little so her cleavage was more visible to the sitting man.
“Hello Shelly, I’m Dan. A pleasure to meet you.”
“Oh my gosh, you too! *giggle* Like, Derek said you were getting a divorce or somethin? And like, I could help you get over it… *giggle*” she said as she sunk down to her knees and undid the front of her top. She took both her top and purse and set them to the side before unhooking the clasp on her bra and doing the same.
Then she leaned forward between Dan’s wide spread legs and got to work.
Shelly Monroe scanned the lab and scowled, “What is all this shit? I didn’t approve any of this!” she yelled out at the surprised lab technicians that sat bolt upright and her voice and scurried about to avoid her gaze.
She reached up and pushed her glasses up her nose and then tucked a stray strand of her shoulder length brown hair around her ear. Taking a stride forward she headed to the back of the room where she knew she would find Derek, the floor manager of this area.
She burst in to his office, slamming the door back against the doorstop, “Derek!” she yelled as he popped his head up and saw his bosses boss staring daggers at him.
“Shelly! Hi… what are you doing down here?” he scrambled to regain his composure as she stood in his door way.
“What am I doing down here… what are *you* doing down here? This is supposed to be a data management lab, not some kinda of… kind of… sci fi, mad scientist, lab? Where did all this crap come from? Who approved it? How much did it cost? I’m going to fire someone in the next five minutes if I don’t get some answers!”
Derek quickly typed you a message on his computer without letting his eyes leave Shelly’s face, “Calm down Shelly, I can explain everything. We are doing data management, we just a bit of a break through in an associated field and needed to run that down as well. Dan has approved everything and it’s not nearly as expensive as it looks.”
Derek continued talking as he watched one of the lab techs slowly creep up behind Shelly with a syringe in his hand. A moment later it was in her ass and the plunger was fully depressed.
“WHAT THE FUCK!” Shelly cried out at the prick and twirled around, only to wobble and fall forward in to the lab tech’s arms.
“Fuck that was close, hurry up and get her in the tank, that will only sedate her for 10, maybe 15 minutes!” Derek called out as several other staff members descended upon his office. Several of them grabbed a hold of her and moved her limp body over to the far side of the room where the tank was waiting. They quickly striped her of her business suit, her granny panties, and her plain white bra before strapping a regulator around her head and sticking it between her lips. Then they slipped her into the tank and closed it up.
“Alright, start running the program, we’ll have to wing it a little since she showed up earlier than we expected. Mary, did you get anything for her to wear?”
“Yep, I went shopping on the weekend and found the perfect outfit for her.”
“Great, alright, we have…” Derek said and looked at his watch, it was just after 2pm, “…five hours to get this done, let move it.”
Derek walked away from Dan’s office and checked his watch, 6:45pm, done with lots of time to spare. Admittedly, the deadline wasn’t real, it was just a way to focus his team on the work at hand.
Not that they needed the motivation, Shelly had burned every single on of them over the years, it was why they were all relegated to the “Data Management Lab”, or DML as it was colloquially know, instead of a real lab in the division. This was where Shelly dumped those, including himself and Dan, who she wanted to fire but couldn’t for whatever reason.
It had turned out thought that the wide variety of people that ended up at the DML had created a fertile breading ground for outside the box thinking and together they had come up with the tank. It was a liquid biomatrix that could rewrite DNA on the fly, combined with a powerful nano-magnetic scalpel, and and advanced AI model of the human brain.
Basically it let the team re-write the body and mind of anyone they put in it. The biomatrix could reshape the body, making permanent changes to the DNA to match. While the nano-magnetic scalpel could cut out or splice in memories to the mind. The AI making it possible to find and create the required memories in a way that would match the subjects brain.
Derek had told Dan they were close, but Dan could only push Shelly off for so long and they knew that she’d take credit for their hard work if they let them, so the entire team had come up with a plan.
He rode the elevator back down to the DML and opened the door, the team huddled over the tank as “Shelly” emerged from it. It was actually Mary of course, having spent the last hour or so in the tank after they’d pulled Shelly out of it, she was now a perfect physical match for Shelly. And had the required information like passwords and basic working knowledge of Shelly’s life to pass for her for the few weeks that were required.
After all, if Shelly just mysteriously vanished after passing through the security doors down to the DML, there would be a lot of questions. Of course if Shelly resigned with a new job offer across the country… well, no one would ask questions then.
“How are you feeling Mary?” Derek asked as he walked in.
“My name is Shelly Derek and what are you doing at the office so late? Who’s paying for all this overtime.” she scoulded him, her hard glare a perfect imitation of the real one.
“Hahaha… just kidding Derek, I’m good.” Mary said, cracking a smile and laughing.
“Whew, I almost crapped my pants! Hahaha.” Derek replied.
“Alright everyone, good work. We’ve just got a little more to do. Ma… Shelly,” he corrected himself, “Get dressed and head home. You’ll need to write up your resignation letter tonight so you can hand it in tomorrow. Make sure to suggest Dan as a good candidate for your replacement when you talk to the CEO as well.”
“Got it boss.” Mary/Shelly replied.
“The rest of you get everything reset, wipe all the records of Shelly being in the tank. We need this to be spotless.”
Derek watched his team get to work and smiled as he walked back to his office and sat down in his seat.
His mind drifted back to the conversation that he’d had with the new Shelly on their way up to Dan’s office. In a way this was a divorce, Dan, Derek and the entire team were getting rid of a ball and chain that had dragged them all down to the basement DML for years.
His personal phone bleeped and he picked it up to see Dan’s message, “Your experiment is ready to be picked up any time.”
Derek smiled and replied, “Will be up to collect it shortly, just finishing up down in the DML.”
“Sounds good, I guess I’ll have to entertain myself with it for a little bit longer.” was his reply and Derek let out a chuckle.
Dan might be entertaining himself with Shelly for few more minutes, but Derek had plans for the entire weekend with her.
