“Hey Jen, how are the new piercings?” I asked with a smirk as she glared at me.
“Fuck you.” she shot back and then stormed off to the elevators.
I chuckled as her ass swayed in her hurried retreat from me.
I’d met Jen a few months ago when I’d moved into the building, and we’d been adversarial from that moment forward.
I’m not exactly sure why… I hadn’t done anything in particular to her and she seemed to be friends with many of the other residents of the condo tower, all of which only said nice things about her.
Not that I couldn’t have done something to her if I’d wanted to. I’d discovered my unique talent in my late teens, though I still had no idea where it came from. If I made a bet with someone, no matter how trivial or impactful, the other person would always follow through with the stakes if they lost.
So after a few terrible interactions with Jen, I’d kinda lost my temper and blurted out a wager:
"I bet you can't go for a week without being a bitch to me."
Her eyes had glossed over as whatever power I had took hold of her and for an instant I almost regretted it… almost.
"I'll take that bet... what are the stakes?" she responded with a steady cadence.
I’d had to think about it for a moment, not having really had a plan, but eventually I came up with something.
"Ok, if you win I'll pay for your next salon trip. If I win, you'll dye your hair pink."
As soon as the words were out of my mouth her eyes cleared and she blinked.
"Ok, it's a bet."
And then she’d walked off. Looking back at it, it might have been a little nasty to make such a major change for a first bet, but she had really gotten on my nerves.
It had only taken her three days to lose the bet when she bumped into me in the mail room and the gave me a snarky “Excuse you.”
She’d immediately frozen in place as my power took hold and she realized she’d lost the bet. I saw her the next day, pink hair flowing down over her shoulders.
Which, of course, only made her act even worse towards me.
Over the next weeks I’d repeated the bet with new terms over and over again, until she hardly resembled the Jen that I’d first met.
New clothes, new makeup, new workout routines, the whole nine yards.
I looked down at my watch and checked the date, it had been over a week since we’d made our last wager and a smile crossed my lips as I hurried towards the elevators. I arrived just as the doors were about to close and slipped my hand between them, stopping them from doing so.
I stepped into it turned around, leaning up against the back of the elevator car right beside Jen. I waited for a moment, then the doors began to close, and I half turned my head to Jen, a scowl on her face.
“Hey Jen, I bet you can’t go for a week without being a bitch to me.” I said.
Jen’s eyes had glossed over again before she replied.
“I’ll take that bet… what are the stakes?” she responded with a steady cadence.
“Ok, if you win I’ll pay for your next months mortgage payment. If I win, you’ll show my your piercings… all of them… whenever and wherever I ask to see them.”
“Ok, it’s a bet.” she replied as she came out of my power once more.
She blinked several times and blushed just as the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened on her floor. She hurried out of them and towards her unit.
“See you tomorrow Jen.” I called out to her.
She stopped and turned around, almost made a snarling sound at me, and then flipped me the bird.
“Not if I can fucking help it.” she spat out.
Then, just as the doors started to close, she froze in place with a surprised expression on her face as she realized she’d already lost the bet.
I chuckled and shook my head, she was such an easy mark at this point I’d had to limit how often I made bets with her, otherwise she’d be a mewing little fuck doll by the end of the week.
The doors closed and I pulled out my phone, marking down in my calendar the bet so I could keep track of them.
I figured at this rate I’d have another two, two and a half months, of fun with Jen before it was done. Fortunately there were several other candidates in the building, which was the main reason I moved into it anyway.
I’d run out of playthings in my last condo building, hopefully this one would keep me occupied for longer.
