“Excuse me Sir, Mr. Trumble is here.” Dede said as I sat at the small desk in the hotel room.
I looked up and smiled and Dede returned the smile instantly. When I’d implanted the idea a few weeks ago to work on her physical fitness I hadn’t imaged she’d go quite so far or so fast, but I had to admit I wasn’t unhappy with the results. She was the sports entertainment director at the hotel and had been in pretty good shape, but at one point had been a stripper, hence the two large implants on her chest.
“Good, send him in.” I replied and Dede quickly turned and walked back to the door and opened it. A short man with a bad comb over and tacky suit entered my room and quickly made his way over to the desk.
“Excuse me Sir, so sorry to bother you, but there is a federal agent at the front desk asking questions.”
“That’s expected, don’t worry about it, I’ll go down and take care of it.”
“Thank you Sir.” he replied and his face relaxed for a moment before curling up in to a scowl once more.
“Is there something else?”
“Well Sir… I mean I know you said it was fine… but the Executive Suite is available… if you want it of course.”
I let out a chuckle and shook my head, “No, this is fine, I like a simple room… it’s relaxing.”
“Of course Sir.” he said and then quickly made his way back out of the room and Dede returned to sitting in a chair by the door.
A few minute later I walked out of the room and down to the front desk. I double checked the date, it was five weeks since since I’d setup in the hotel and the feds were pretty much right on time.
Even with my power to alter minds, there was only so long I could keep my activities a secret. I’d take care of this agent and sent them on their way, which would buy me a couple more weeks here. I’d already found my next spot to visit, a nice beach front hotel on a Caribbean island.
Island hotels were better, the feds took longer to track me down, though this time might be different.
Usually when I left, it was a clean getaway, leaving everything behind and starting fresh. But Dede had proven to be too good of find to just discard and so I’d be taking me with her, which would leave more of a trail than usual.
That was alright though, I could counter that by keeping a lower profile for the first while and I knew Dede would certainly be happy to keep me entertained in my room for as long as I wanted.
