“Hey Trixi, how are you making out?” I asked as I walked up to the blonde standing on the street in front of the wrought iron fence.

She grabbed her pig tails, gave a little giggle, and then something came over her face and a frown appeared.

“Oh my god, like, you bastard! What have you totally done to me?!?” she cried out without actually shouting or bring attention to herself.

Not that there were too many people around at this time of day. The stores had closed hours ago, most people were home having diner, and there were just a few people on the street.

I let out a chuckle and step in close to her, “Well, not that much really. Just tweaked a few small things in that silly little head of yours and then put you to work.” I replied.

Her face twisted in confusion as slowly the pink fog lifted from her mind, then realization crossed her face and she parted her lips to scream, even though nothing came out.

“There we go, now then, once more, how are you making out?” I asked a second time.

It took a moment, but eventually she spoke, “Fucking terrible you asshole! You made me into a cheap streetwalking whore!”

“Pft, no I didn’t. By no means are you cheap.” I replied with a grin.

She parted her lips to argue but then closed them and just glared at me.

“Besides, you only walk the streets once a week, and soon you won’t be even doing it that often. How many times have you been picked up for solicitation now?”

“Three.” she said with destain in her voice.

“A couple more and your record will be so tainted that no one will take you seriously even if you managed to ‘escape’.”

I could see the hate in her eyes, anger and rage, something that she’d focused and honed for years as a DA.

Her faced calmed and she asked the question I’d been waiting for, “So, alright, I don’t know how you do it, but that doesn’t matter. What I want to know is why.”

“That’s the right question to ask. It’s not personal, it’s just business. My client needed you gone from the DA’s office. You had been getting too close to his operations and he needed someone more… amenable, to his manipulations.”

“Fucking Solakov!” she spat out.

I nodded, “Yep, he’s backing your replacement even as we speak. The new DA will suddenly lose interest in his operations and in fact go after his competitors.”

“If… if you can do this… why didn’t he just have you change my mind for him?”

“I could have done that, but honestly, no one would have believed you’d given up your quest for ‘justice’, as you put it. It would be too obvious. But a fall from grace? A mental breakdown? That’s a classic that always works.”

She let out a big sigh, looked down for a moment, before making eye contact with me again, “So… so what’s the end game here?”

“Sure you want to know?” I replied.

She nodded with a stern look on her face.

“Alright. Well, you’ll continue your escort work for the next few months, get a nice rap sheet that leaves no wiggle room for you, and continue you’re ‘upgrades’.”

I could see her face twist at the word upgrades, she’d been a beautiful woman as the DA, but she’d been a short haired brunette with thin lips and minimal makeup in business attire. Over the last few months she’d steadily been changing her appearance to better match the blonde bimbo look, and was well on her way.

She obviously hated the change and she knew there was little more she could do with more significant work being done.

“Don’t worry about the cost, your escorting has more than covered the expenses for the surgeries you’ll be getting.” I assured her.

She shot daggers at me with here eyes, “And?”

I smiled, she was smart, that was for sure, “Well, once you are pretty much unrecognizable, and had a legal name change, you’ll be joining Mr. Solakov as his new trophy wife. The good news is that you’ll get to mingle with many of the same people you did as DA, the bad news is that you’ll just be smiling and jiggling your tits at them.”

“You… fucking… bastard…” she said between gritted teeth.

“Oh don’t be that way, I’m the good guy here.” I said with a smile.

“What the fuck do you mean, the good guy?”

“Think about it for a minute, you can figure it out. In fact I’m the good guy twice over.” I replied.

I watched her forehead crinkle in thought for a few moments and then realization cross her face. Her shoulders slumped and she nodded, “Thanks… I guess.”

“You’re welcome. Anyway, I’ll check back with you in a couple of months, keep up the good work.” I said and before she could do anything the fog rolled back into her mind and after a moment Trixi giggle before turning and walked down the street.

As she waked away I couldn’t quite put my finger on why I’d been so nice with her. I mean Solakov could have just had her killed and moved on, so taking the job in the first place had been a kindness, but to let her be completely consumed by the Trixi personality, to the point she didn’t even realize who she had been?

That was so unlike me. I normally enjoyed watching them fight every moment of their new lives, not be completely oblivious to it.

I turned and walked the other way, perhaps I’d have to spend some time with Trixi on our next meeting and see if I could figure out why, or not. Perhaps it was just my good deed of the decade and I’d write it off as such.
