Jessica sat on the bench and gripped her towel as she looked over at the man that had approached her, “So you really think I have talent?” she asked.
“Oh, absolutely!” he replied and fished a card from his pocket and handed it to her.
She read it, “Jim Donald, Manager, Personal Trainer, Nutritionist” it read along with his contact details. She raised an eyebrow and was suspicious, she’d only come out to the boxing gym to work out a bit, and mostly on a dare from her ex-boyfriend. She’d dumbed him a few weeks ago but had kept the visits to the gym.
She had to admit that she liked exercise but not all the attention, hence why she wore the fake ring on her finger. It didn’t always work, but a few guys got the hint and left her alone.
“I don’t know…” she equivocated and turned to put the card in her bag that sat behind her.
“Look, what do you have to lose? I don’t charge any fees unless you get a fight and I have a deal with the gym owner so my clients get free access to the gym. Worst case scenario is that you get a free gym pass for as long as you’re a client.”
A free gym membership did sound good, this place wasn’t crazy expensive or anything, but she was on a tight budget these days.
“I’ll tell you what, here…” he said, swinging the backpack he wore around to the front of him and digging through it until he found what he was looking for. He pulled out a reasonably sized container and tossed it over to her.
“I’ve just received some promotional items from a new company specializing in health and nutrition. This stuff…” he said, pointing at the unlabeled container she was now holding, “…is supposed to be the best supplement powder on the market. That’s enough to last you a month, give it a try.”
“Ok, ok… fine, you win!” she said with an exacerbated smile on her lips, “I can’t really say no to free stuff now can I?” she finished with a little chuckle.
“Perfect! Text me your contact details and we’ll setup a training schedule.”
Jessica nodded and then stood up, “Alright, but I’m not going to be a gym rat or anything, I work out three times a week and that’s it.”
“That works for me, I have a few other clients on the go anyway.”
“Ok, I’ll text you when I get home then.” she said and turned to walk to the showers and get cleaned up.
